I am a mo'opuna of Augusto Dias, one of three Portuguese men credited with the invention of the ukulele. My Portuguese great grandmother, Luisa Dias DeSilva, was one of his great granddaughters. How cool is that? LOL Here is a family tree:

My Hilo Grandpa is on the bottom line. So is my cousin retired judge Paul DeSilva's father who is my Hilo Grandpa's brother. Kihei DeSilva is also one of my cousins and he is a mo'opuna of Augusto Dias. Growing up they didn't tell me much about this. It's as though my family didn't want my head to be too big and for that I am grateful because all this time some people treated me like dirt!... little did I know.
